Is this friend ever in your home where s/he might see where a jewelry boxes would have been theoretically displayed? If s/he gave you two (why two, I wonder?), maybe you should keep one and use it as a box to put little pieces of junk (you know, the stuff you think you may have a use for one day but don't know what to do with in the meantime) in, and put it in your living room or something.
