you might try contacting the ANTIQUE ROADSHOW website at PBS. they have excellent experts. if that is not helpful, you might want to contact a reputable auction house like SOTHEBY’S. good luck.
I only know that if he is really focused on not getting screwed, he will get screwed. Could it be you, and he is actually focused on getting a fair price?

This way you can get more because each lot is usually more valuable as a group than just one piece…
Put a reserve on it to ensure that you don’t let anything go too cheaply be sure to add the 10% buyers/sellers premium.

or you could hold your own auction i would not go on ebay
